Surface Tension' features Senem Oezdogan’s recent works on paper and canvas, where her flat shapes are both referential and entirely removed from their environment, offering an idiomatic reality where presence and absence slide past one another effortlessly.
Senem Oezdogan is a Brooklyn-based mixed media artist whose works meditate on the relationship between the aesthetic and functional value of an image. Influenced by architecture and the built environment, her fiber-based geometric studies feature straight lines and woven shapes that create depth and texture and convey a softness of fabric or tapestry. The artist’s works function as a vehicle by which viewers can observe the world through form and color. Oezdogan studied Communication Design and Illustration at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
